Autism Coach is pleased to offer powerful enzymes specially created to help children with digestive issues commonly associated with autism spectrum disorders. Experts in autism, such as Dr. Andrew Wakefield, a gastroenterologist specializing in the study of autism and the intestinal tract, believe that children in the autism spectrum are harmed through the mal-digestion of food, contributing to a chain of metabolic dysfunction that ultimately interferes with proper neurological development. Some of these experts, such as Dr. Wakefield and his colleague, Paul Shattock, have taken the approach that establishing proper digestion can greatly improve the prognosis of children in the autism spectrum.
In a survey of 260 parents over a 7 month period, 90% of parents using Peptizyde and Zyme Prime together reported sustained improvements in behavior and level of ability. For more information on the results of this survey, see Enzyme Survey.
When my son began taking these enzymes, within a week we observed significant improvements - red ears and pimply cheek rash that had been present since infancy faded considerably. Within two weeks, he improved in math, reading, drawing, physical coordination, and sense of humor.
In addition to the description of the enzymes below, you can learn more about these enzymes from Enzyme FAQ page.

Picking the Right Enzymes
There are several versions of these enzymes available - all are highly effective.
Peptizyde is designed to break down proteins, and is specifically targeted to break down gluten and casein proteins commonly found and animal milk products (milk, cheese, yoghurt, butter) and grains such as wheat. Our products that contain Peptizyde are Trienza and AFP Peptizyde.
Zyme Prime and ZyCarb break down other components of food including carbohydrates and fats, helping to ensure complete digestion. There are two forms SCD Zyme Prime (for those followig the Specific Carbohydrate Diet) and HN Zyme Prime which provides more full-spectrum digestion including some breakdown of proteins. ZyCarb can be used in place of either form of Zyme Prime and has more anti-Candida (anti-yeastl) activity.
No-Fenol is designed to digest phenolic compounds found in foods such as tomatoes, apples and grapes.
Trienza has all three types of enzymes mentioned above. It contains the AFP version of Peptizyde, the SCD version Zyme Prime, and No-Fenol. Two capsules or 4 chewable tablets of Trienza provide the equivalent of 1 capsule of Peptizyde, 1 capsule of SCD Zyme Prime, and 1/2 capsule of No-Fenol. The Trienza powder is the most economical form of Trienza, containing 180 1/4 teaspoon dosages along with a measuring scoop.
Can't Swallow a Capsule - If
you or your child do not swallow capsules, you can open up the
capsules and mix them into cool or room temperature food (that is free
of gluten or casein) or you can use the fruit-flavored chewable tablet
forms of AFP Peptizyde, Zyme Prime, Trienza, or No-Fenol. They are all SCD compatible. Trienza is now also available in an
economical powder form.
- All of our enzymes are fruit free except HN Zyme Prime, and the chewable tablets. If you or your child have a fruit allergy, we
recommend using SCD Zyme Prime capsules or Trienza (which contains Zyme Prime).
Gluten and Casein Free Diet and Specific Carbohydrate Diet compliant - All of these enzymes are
compliant with the Gluten Casein Free (GFCF) diet and the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD). For more information on
the Gluten Free Casein Free Diet, please click here. For more information on
the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, please click here.
Peptizyde - digests proteins found in wheat and dairy
Both AFP Peptizyde and Trienza contain of a powerful enzyme blend designed to completely digest gluten and casein proteins commonly found in wheat and dairy products. Dr. Wakefield believes that many autistic children incompletely digest these proteins, creating opiate-like molecules from wheat and dairy products during digestion. These opiates then leak through the intestines into the blood, finding their way to brain and flooding the brain with opiates which interfere with proper neurological development. Peptizyde is designed to break down gluten and casein molecules preventing the formation of these harmful opiates. Peptizyde is so powerful that a capsule of it mixed in a tablespoon of yogurt will liquify the yogurt in seconds.
Should I Choose Trienza or AFP Peptizyde? If you or your child have an issue with foods containing phenols (such as tomatoes, grapes, apples) we recommend Trienza, which contains the equivalent of one capsule of Peptizyde, one capsule of Zyme Prime, and 1/2 a capsule of No-Phenol in one tiny, economical capsule. If phenols are not an issue, we recommend AFP Peptizyde in combination with one of our forms of Zyme Prime or ZyCarb to provide complete digestion.
Zyme Prime and ZyCarb - digests everything else
Zyme Prime and ZyCarb digest the other components of food that the Peptizyde products do not, to provide complete digestion. The more completely food is digested, the less likely undigested food will become a source of nutrition to contribute to the overgrowth of pathogenic organisms and bacteria in the digestive tract, such as Candida, Clostridia, and Klebsiella.
Trienza - This includes Peptizyde, SCD Zyme Prime (see description below), and No Phenol in one small capsule. Use only if there is a sensitivity to foods containing phenols.
- Compliant with the SCD Diet and free of fruit enzymes, consists of a
blend of 9 different enzymes in high concentration to break down
carbohydrates and fats. It appears to provide some benefit for children
with sensitivities to phenols, which are problematic for a significant
number of autistic children. Zyme Prime is designed to be used with AFP Peptizyde, providing complete digestion for the food components that
Peptizyde does not digest. Used together, all forms of Peptizyde and
Zyme Prime provide full-spectrum digestion. Parents
report digestive improvements such as firmer and more formed stools.
Some improvement in tolerating phenolic foods was noted. Zyme Prime was
observed to often increase weight gain in children who were under-sized,
possibly through increasing bioavailability of food nutrients..
- Is similar to Zyme Prime in smaller capsule and 1/3 more capsules per
bottle (120) than Zyme Prime. It helps with digestion of starches,
carbohydrates, and fats. Zylanase helps in tolerance to phenols.
It includes Cellulase which helps break down the cell yalls of Candida (yeast) to help control Candida overgrowth which problematic for many individuals within the autism spectrum. However, if you or your child use a cellulose-based time release medication, you will not want to use ZyCarb as it can interfere with timing of the release of these
medications. It is s less stool firming and so is less apt to result
in constipation and it helps to reduce the gas and bloating from starchy
No-Fenol - Digesting Phenols
No-Fenol - Allows some children to eat fruits and vegetables (such as tomatoes, apples, and grapes) that are high in phenolic compounds. This enzyme is to be taken when children eat foods with high levels of phenols to improve their ability to tolerate these foods and minimize a behavioral reaction or physical reaction (such as red ears cheeks, and dark circles under the eyes) to these foods. This enzyme can be taken in addition to the Peptizyde and Zyme Prime enzymes. It comes in a capsule and chewable form.
