This new program from England teaches children the names
of 2 and 3 dimensional shapes, movement, and symmetry. There are lots
of games and levels, providing hours of play and learning. A friendly talking bucket with an
English accent and his side-kick shovel carry out the games at the beach,
making children feel as if they're on summer holiday.
This game does use quite a bit of spoken language and some
of the terminology for the shapes is specific to the U.K. However,
it is a well-designed engaging game that teaches valuable early spatial
and directional concepts and has lots of activities.
Children click on the beach house with the level of
challenge they wish to attempt. The beach balls roll out of the
house and the child can click on one of the activities:

There are seven activities to choose from.
Rock Pool teaches children to use directional arrow to
guide Crab around her new rock pool.

Hide and Seek helps bucket locate Spade, who is hiding on
the beach, by using the correct positional language.

Light House introduces the concept of moving a quarter,
half and whole turn.

Beach Patterns has children complete patterns.

Lost in the Hut has children locate objects in the dark,
seeing parts at a time with a flashlight.

Shapes Shelves has children locate 2 and 3 dimensional
shapes, based on written and verbal descriptions. Symmetry Shells
has children create symmetrical patterns out of sea shells. What's in the
Bucket describes shapes verbally and children have to select the shape
being described.
