Our high-quality, Liquid Carnosine Plus
© is an all-natural dietary supplement. L-Carnosine is a
naturally occurring dipeptide that consists of alanine and histadine. Carnosine
is most concentrated in the brain, heart, and kidneys.
Use of L-Carnosine in autism was pioneered by Dr. Michael Chez, a
pediatric neurologist from Chicago. Dr. Chez
theorized that L-Carnosine stimulates the front areas of the brain,
providing increased activity, leading to overall
improvements in level of functioning. More
and more research shows that the frontal lobes and temporal lobes in
the brain control emotion, epileptic activity, cognitive, expressive
speech, and abstract thinking. It also
rejuvinates old, dying cells restoring them to youthful appearance -
hence it is a key anti-aging supplement as well.
Carnosine, Autism, and
Seizure Disorders
In a double-blind study conducted by Dr. Chez, L-Carnosine was found to be beneficial to children with
autism spectrum
disorders and/or epilepsy. Participants in the
clinical trial who were given L-Carnosine experienced significant
improvements compared to those taking a placebo in the following
areas: language, auditory processing socialization,
awareness of
surroundings, fine motor planning and expressive language.
Improvements were observed between 1-8
weeks into treatment, with a 90 percent success rate.
Participants taking L-Carnosine
showed improved behavior and communication by 16 percent and
social interaction improved by 27 percent! In just four
weeks, parents reported an overall improvement that more than doubled
through the length of the study. To view a summary of the
clinical trial, please click here.
Dr. Chez also theorized that all autistic
children are dyslexic and that distortion of sensory input (touch,
taste, hearing, sight) that autistic children experience are forms of
dyslexia. We have anecdotal evidence from customers of all ages
that their dyslexia improves or completely disappears when they
supplement with Carnosine, including a young lady whose handwriting,
reading skills, and grades dramatically improved in after taking Liquid
Carnosine Plus over a two-month period. Dr. Chez's study also
showed the reading ability took a leap when taking Carnosine.

What Makes Liquid Carnosine
Better?
Not all supplements are created
alike, and the quality of ingredients and can make a huge difference in
effectiveness. Unfortunately,
the raw materials of supplements can legally contain hidden,
unlabeled fillers and by-products of manufacturing that can be
potentially harmful or allergenic to sensitive individuals.
Liquid
Carnosine Plus provides our proprietary blend of ingredients - using only the highest quality L-Carnosine,
and the highest quality magnesium-taurate and magnesium-glycinate
chelates for improved absorption and utilization.
Ingredients of inferior quality generally don't work as well. Many
manufacturers put in less of the active ingredients than advertised on
the label, as is periodically shown when consumer groups have an
independent laboratory test the actual levels of ingredients in
supplements purchased at chain health food stores. We do not
skimp. We also enhance the effectiveness of the Carnosine
including additional ingredients. Taurine and Magnesium have anti-seizure
properties and appear to be most effective when taken together. Taurine has been sited as enhancing the effect of the calming
neurotransmitter, GABA, as does L-Carnosine.
Glycine is one of the major calming neurotransmitters in the brain, along with
GABA.
Liquid Carnosine Plus has a pleasant
lemonade-like taste and is
easy to take. It may
be mixed into other drinks and smoothies if taken within 15 minutes of
mixing with either cool or room temperature beverages. It
is compliant with the following diets: GFCF, SCD, Low-Phenolic, Low-Oxalic
diet, and Feingold.
One of the nice things about our
form of Carnosine is the ease in adjusting the dosage to be that which
is exactly right for you - there is no need to split open a capsule. For
those who take larger amounts of Carnosine there is convenience of a
quick, pleasant-tasting drink that can even be added to water, orange
juice, or lemonade, instead swallowing several capsules.
Carnosine and Anti-Aging,
Stroke, Alzheimer's, Heart Disease and Diabetes
Carnosine
is a naturally occurring product in our food. But with the passing of
time, levels of it decrease in the body - this is believed to be one of
the primary factors leading to the aging process. Every time our
cells divide, which they do throughout our lifetime, they age.
Older cells are less efficient at performing the functions for which
they were designed, are less efficient at creating energy and removing
by products. Inefficient function of older cells leads to buildups
of toxic by products and cross-linked proteins associated aging skin
(wrinkles and liver spots), cataracts, and build-up of plaque in the
brains of Alzheimer's patients. After about 60 divisions,
cells stop reproducing and are just alive, waiting for death.
However, Carnosine, when introduced into the body's cells, has been
shown to rejuvenate older cells, acting an anti-aging agent from within
our cell structure.

A shows healthy young human cells, Photo B shows old human cells, Photo
C shows old human cells supplemented with Carnosine. These cells
were grown in a lab culture.

The
two mice shown above are of the same age, but the Carnosine supplemented
mouse had a far healthier appearance and went on to live 20% longer than
its litter mate. This was not a one-time experiment, but was
reproduced on many more mice.
Carnosine and High Blood
Pressure, and Heart Disease
A 1992 study at Ohio University using rats found that Carnosine
levels in the heart and skeletal muscles fell over 40% as they aged and
were 40% lower in rats with high blood pressure. Heart muscle
showed a dramatic decline. Similar correlations have been fund in
humans. These authors published a second study in Biochemical
Society Transactions v. 23 (1995), again showing a sharp decrease in
Carnosine in the heart and skeletal muscles as they aged, especially
when high blood pressure is a factor. They also found exercise was
vital to keep Carnosine levels high. These means that high blood
pressure may be benefit from Carnosine supplementation. I have
several anecdotal reports from customers over the age of 50 that they
have seen their blood pressure drop after taking Carnosine.
Carnosine and Alzheimer's
Carnosine
is highly concentrated in the frontal lobes of the brain and in the
olafactory bulb, which provides us with our sense of smell. This
is significant in that one of the earliest symptoms of Alzheimers is
losing one's sense of smell. The olfactory bulb is located in
close proximity to the hippocampus, which is where short term memory is
processed. There is the possibility that by protecting the region
of the brain near the hippocampus, that Carnosine can help to prevent or
slow down the onset of Alzheimers. Anecdotally, I have had one
customer over the age of 50 tell me their sense of smell returned when
they took the Carnosine for a few months and that their short-term
memory also improved at the same time.
Stroke Severity Reduced
Significantly with Carnosine Supplementation
In 1996, research at Michigan State Univesity conducted by Arshad
Majid found that giving mice doses of Carnosine supplement before
the onset of stroke consistently reduced the severity of stroke by as
much as 50 percent. “That’s huge. At first I didn’t believe
the results, so we repeated the test many times,” said Majid, who is
also director of MSU’s Division of Cerebrovascular Disease. “These
are very promising results. If you can reduce the size of the stroke by
half, that means less disability for the patient.” In addition,
Majid and colleagues also found that carnosine was very effective in
helping to reduce the severity of stroke after the onset of symptoms.
“We found that the protection was somewhat reduced, but still around
30 to 40 percent,” he said. “Again, that’s a huge number.”
“The real beauty of this medication is it’s nontoxic,” Majid said.
“The clot-busting medications we now give to stroke patients can be
dangerous. Plus the patient needs careful neurological assessment, a CT
scan and lab work before the clot-busting medication can be
administered.” I spoke with Dr. Majid in January 2009 and he is
continuing on with his research the use of Carnosine to treat strokes as
he is seeing such promise in this area.
In
the Russian Journal Byull. Eksp. Biol. Med. doctors at the Omsk Medical
Institute studied rats by reviving them from induced death. They gave
them injections to kill them, revived them and then injected half of
them with carnosine. The ones given the carnosine not only had a higher
survival rate, but less damage from being clinically dead for about five
minutes. You may not like studies such as this, but much was learned
from it.
Carnosine and Diabetes
In the journal Nutrition Research v. 14, (1994) researchers at the
University of Quebec in Canada found that dogs given carnosine in their
food regulated their insulin and glucagon secretion by affecting the
pancreas. This has obvious potential for our extreme rates of diabetes
and other blood sugar problems. It is believed to protect against kidney
failure that can result from high levels of glucose in diabetics - by
preventing scarring of the kidneys and by lowering levels of glucose in
the blood as well. King’s College in London was granted a World Patent
(meaning the European Community) for helping relieve diabetes with
carnosine supplementation. Diabetes and blood sugar problems are now
affecting our children as well as adults.

Recommended dosage:
In early release of Liquid Carnosine Plus, we are finding that a
little bit of this product goes a longer way than the capsule form of
Carnosine - hence we have revised the recommended dosage. We
theorize that less is needed because of the higher quality ingredients
plus the more absorbable liquid form. This results in a
considerable cost savings - where a single dose may cost less than
half of comparable encapsulated products. The recommended dosage
is:
50 pounds or under - 1/4 to 1 teaspoon per day
to start
50-130 pounds - 1-2 teaspoons per day to
start
120 pounds or up - 2 teaspoons to 1
tablespoon per day to start
Vitamin E can be taken with Liquid
Carnosine Plus to further enhance its effectiveness because most forms
of vitamin E contain soy, which is an allergen for a significant number
of sensitive individuals. If soy is not an allergen and you are already takes a daily multi-vitamin
with Vitamin E, additional Vitamin E supplementation may not be
necessary. For
information on Autism Coach's Vitamin E, please click here.
This product contains no products
derived from wheat, dairy, corn or soy, nor does it contain artificial
colors, flavors, or sweeteners. It is compliant with the
following special diets: Gluten-Free/Casein-Free, Low-Phenolic,
Feingold, and Low-Oxalate.
Storage:
For optimal potency, store in a cool,
dry place that is 59-71 Farenheit, 15-25 degrees Celsius.
Refrigerate after opening.
Important: Before
using a dosage higher than those recommended above, parents
should consult with the child's physician or neurologist.
Dosage is relative to age, weight,
autistic or epileptic issues and is also relative to EEG
activity and particular learning disabilities and or dietary issues.
Children with other
disorders such as epilepsy, central processing disorder, or brain injury
have received dosages that have ranged from 200 to 3000 mg per day of L-Carnosine,
based upon
evaluation
by your child's neurologist. Many
neurologists using L-Carnosine recommend higher dosages to address
seizure disorders, but higher dosages are best worked up to and used
under the supervision of the child's neurologist. If the child has
previously used another Carnosine supplement, we recommend beginning
with half the dosage of Carnosine per serving previously used, and if it
is needed, gradually working up to the desired level.
Side Effects: The
primary side-effects are hyperactivity and irritability, which appear to
fade away for the majority of individuals, when the dosage is reduced.
It is recommended that hyperactive children take methylated forms Vitamin B6,
B12 and folic acid (100 - 200 mg per day) with
L-Carnosine, though again this should be determined by the child's
physician. Methylated forms of these B vitamins are P5P (B6),
Methylcobalamin (B12), and folinic acid (folic acid). The combination of B6 and the magnesium was pioneered
by Dr. Bernard Rimland in the treatment of autism and has been in use
for over 25 years. We have heard from parents that methylated B
vitamin supplementation frequently address issues of hyperactivity
encountered when initially beginning supplementation with
Carnosine. We offer the tasty, liquid Behavior
Balance to provide methyl donors, or capsules forms of B
Complex with methylated B6 and B12 and Folinic
Acid to provide this support.
Potential Drug Interactions: There have been no adverse effects reported
when used with stimulants, anti-psychotic or SSRI medications,
acetaminophen, ibuprofen or antibiotics. Acetyl-choline esterase
inhibitors may over-stimulate in combination with L-Carnosine, but no
physically adverse reactions have been noted.
Note: This product is not intended to treat, cure, or
prevent any disease. Please note that supplements are
non-refundable, once opened.
