language, which in addition
to all of the programming features offered by the original version, also
includes hundreds of graphics, more extensive help menus, and project
ideas.
Many higher-functioning children within the autism
spectrum display a flair for and interest in programming - programming is
one of the careers most highly recommended for autistic adults by Temple
Grandin. MicroWorlds provides the best, most full
featured implementations of the Logo programming language. Logo was a
children's programming language invented by Seymour Papert, the
world-renowned computer science pioneer at the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology (MIT) in the 1970's and this version of logo is made by his
company.
MicroWorlds EX was designed for middle-school and high
school children, but my 9-year old son and I have used it for a couple of
years to explore programming and he seems to do fine with guidance.
It has a highly visual, graphic interface. There are also logo web
sites that have suggested projects for children to try out, including the
computer source code. If you have a technically savvy child, this
would be a wonderful way to introduce programming.
MicroWorlds EX allows children to create dynamic,
interactive school and Internet projects using the most powerful Logo ever
developed! It lets students become active web designers not just passive
web viewers. Teachers and students can use MicroWorlds EX to enhance
their understanding of MicroWorlds and to get a real sense of the depth

MicroWorlds EX is so versatile it can be used in any subject area.
Programs that ran using MicroWorlds Pro can be transferred
to MicroWorlds EX. However, once a program transferred to
MicroWorlds EX, it is not backwards compatible and cannot run again on
